Hundreds of protesters gathered last weekend in Asheville to protest “FrankenFood” (otherwise known as Genetically Modified Organisms) in general and Monsanto in particular. This was the local version of the international March Against Monsanto ( one of more than 350 held simultaneously in 49 countries). Responding to recent suspension of some of the federal Plant Protection Act allowing genetically modified seeds with GMOs to be distributed, the protesters should be wary of crossing (as well as cross-pollinating) the powers that beet.
