Right now, state law dictates that the Buncombe TDA must spend 75% of the occupancy tax revenues it receives on marketing and promotions and 25% on tourism capital projects for entities that are not-for-profit.

Of the ABC Board’s net profits, 25% goes to the county, but the bulk of it, 75%, is distributed to the city.
