Land Of This Guy

Asheville (and particularly West Asheville) is having problems with graffiti vandals once again (or, still, if any of the previous bouts of it never actually abated) and this cartoon postulates what could possibly be the motive for such  seemingly meaningless scrawls.

(Parenthetically, I thought this worked well as a cartoon in this order, but it struck me that maybe the panels could be moved around and it would be funnier/better/more impactful?) So here is the alternate:
